Renders
This is my most recent and popular character model to date. My reels documenting this model have exceeded 150k+ views on Instagram! I decided to make a Star Wars character for May the 4th and settled on this because I always loved the armor of these guys in the animated show when I was younger. Topology-wise, this is one of the models I am more proud of. I tried hard to make things as clean as I could, while still prioritizing efficiency. My 2d/3d style took some steps up as well, with textures closer to the show, although I expect to do another pass to add weathering.
One of the challenges with this project was the cloth elements and accessories on the armor. I hadn't made a character with this many accessories before, or with more intricate cloth with more accessories attached! I thought the best approach would be a cloth sim for the skirt, which worked to a point after hours of trial and error with various designs. Ultimately, I decided to scrap it and go with a rigged, skinned design with bones in the cloth to give me more control. The character is fully rigged, and I expect to animate it soon!
